Panel gauges are a traditional tool used to strike a marking line across wide boards. It is a simple tool, but if not made precisely it will not perform correctly. I designed my panel gauge with all the features I prefer. Here is why you will love it:
Uses a wedge to secure the beam. This method has the most holding power and does not mar or dent the wood.
The wedge is made of a very hard exotic wood.
The beam is made from Torrefied Maple, to prevent seasonal wood movement.
Face is made from select Maple.
One end of the beam has a cutter mounted; the other end has a mount for a pencil.
Comes standard with a 5/8 inch cutter.
Cutter is mounted in such a way that it helps pull the fence tight against the reference face.
Registration rabbit on panel head is milled absolutely flat.
Beam is 18" long.
